Our facilities exist in the context of their site, but site features and exterior management practices are often simplified to turfgrass, daily irrigation, fertilizer, mowing and noisy leafblowers. The result is costly, both in terms of annual expenses and environmental impacts.

Sustainable site management practices allow for turfgrass in recreation areas and seek to include native and adaptive plantings that require less irrigation. This creates green infrastructure on-site that can also reduce stormwater runoff and create a more attractive space outside.

Improvements also consider transportation infrastructure; pedestrian/bikes, traditional vehicles, EV charging, and supporting access to mass transit.

define sustainability LLC advises organizations on site features and management practices, and engages with partner organizations to design site improvements.
